Jewelry appraisals are performed to provide retail replacement value for insurance purposes or “fair market value” for estate tax purposes. All appraisals include full documentation consisting of weights, measurements, full descriptions and photographs of all items.  Pricing is generally $75.00 for the first item and $40.00 for each additional item.

Insurance companies recommend jewelry appraisals be updated every 3-5 years.  Update pricing is generally $40.00 for each item that was previously appraised at Forest Jewelers.  Appraisal done before 2005 that are being updated will now include a digital picture of each item that is appraised.

Appraisals can be performed at our Princeton location.  While you wait appointments are available for scheduling.  We also have a drop off service available.
